A few technical notes from Laurent

About the technology we use at the studio

Mindworks Creation works only on digital pictures and with professional equipment.

Since photography became digital, taking the picture is only 50% of the work. Another 50% need to be done on the computer to achieve a professional result.
We use the most advanced tools and techniques available in computer software. Our pictures are edited and enhanced before being delivered to you.

Photo shoot on location.

During the photo shoot preparation and lighting are essential.
For portrait photography, we pay attention to every detail of you appearance. We will also direct you on how to select a pose that matches the purpose of the photography we are taking. We can also provide a make-up artist upon request.
For architectural photography or product photography, our focus is on staging and paying attention to the little details that make the subject look perfect.

Once the picture is taken, the work on the computer can begin.
All our pictures are taken as 'digital negative' in the native format of the camera and 'developed' on the computer.

As soon as the images are available we do a first selection and post them on a dedicated online gallery (similar to what you can see here) to get your immediate feedback.

Selected images are then processed in professional software and go through a specific workflow developed by us.

Reviewing the shoot with the talents.

For a portrait that typically includes :
- exposure correction
- shadows and highlights correction
- shape adjustment (in other words,to a certain extend we can make you look thinner)
- fix cosmetic aspects of the skin (yes some of those wrinkles can go too and it's cheaper and safer than surgery but sorry you will not look 20 again unless you are 20)
- apply facial enhancement working on eyes, lashes, pupil, teeth
- brighten some areas, darken others to put the focus on the subject
- color adjustment to suppress any potential colorcast
- give a fashion look to the image (if appropriate)
- edge the image to make the side vanish a little and focus on the subject
- sharpen the image

The final image is available online and can also be delivered to you on a CD/DVD support under two formats:
- an uncompressed full size picture for publishing
- a lower resolution picture for use on the web or e-mails.
