On Monday October 6th His Excellency Mister Pierre Vimont Ambassador of France to the US visited Atlanta, I got a chance to take some pictures of the event hosted by the French American Chamber of Commerce. First H.E.M. Pierre Vimont awarded Michèle Olivères (President of The French American Chamber of Commerce) with the medal in the Order of Merit. Than about 100 guests attended a lunch organized at the Intercontinental Hotel of Buckhead and The Ambassador delivered a speech about “Understanding the Stakes and Challenges of the French Presidency of the European Union Mid-course”.

H.E.M. Pierre Vimont was appointed by President Nicolas Sarkozy on August 1, 2007. He replaces H.E. Jean-David Levitte, Ambassador of France to the U.S. from December 2002 to May 16, 2007. Ambassador Vimont’s appointment took place in a context of change in the French political scene, especially since the election of Mr. Sarkozy in May 2007.
